AO means blue in Japanese.

But there's a beautiful nuance, little known outside the language: traditionally, ao doesn't just mean blue in the RGB sense. It also carries green, newness, freshness — everything alive and in motion.

ao shingō The "green" traffic light — still called blue.

ao-ba New leaves on a tree — literally "blue leaves."

aoi Something young, unripe, just beginning.

About

AO is a Barcelona-based neo-soul band whose music inhabits the space between groove and atmosphere.
